Overview In this role you drive the end-to-end design change lifecycle for global data center projects, applying deep multi-discipline engineering expertise. You will lead feasibility analyses, coordinate cross-functional reviews, and ensure changes are vetted, funded, and deployed. You'll work with Design Engineering, Construction Management, Procurement, Finance, and Product teams to balance technical rigor with business impact. The position sits at the heart of AWS data center standards and change management, shaping scalable, reliable infrastructure. This is a technically hands-on role with a strong leadership and stakeholder coordination component.

Responsibilities- Evaluate complex design changes across electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, controls, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines
- Analyze specifications, drawings, and system requirements to assess feasibility and impact
- Understand data center power distribution, cooling architectures, backups, and building infrastructure
- Identify cross-discipline dependencies and assess constructability and operational implications
- Review and validate calculations (electrical loads, cooling, structural, hydraulics)
- Manage portfolio of in-flight design changes, including feasibility and readiness assessments
- Coordinate technical reviews with principal engineers across disciplines
- Develop and maintain implementation plans and track execution from approval to deployment
- Present recommendations and cost implications to senior leadership
- Drive process improvements and standard documentation for design change management
- Track metrics and maintain design change databases and dashboards
- Support BOD release planning and cross-functional coordination
- Participate in weekly leadership reviews to communicate status and recommendations
Key requirements- 6+ years in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- 6+ years in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities (data centers, power generation, or oil and gas)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities
- Preferred: Professional Engineering or Architectural License
- Preferred: knowledge of building codes and regional regulations
- Preferred: experience taking design concepts through exploration to deployment
