Overview In this role, you will serve as the in-house counsel focused on employment, compensation, and benefits across the US, Canada, and Latin America. You will partner with People, Finance, and cross-functional teams to shape practical programs and guidance that support consistent employment, compensation, equity, and liquidity practices. You will manage disputes, advise on wage, hour, and benefits matters, and contribute to strategic transactions such as M&A. Based in the SF Bay Area, you'll work in a hybrid setup to balance focused work with in-person collaboration and influence a fast-growing, innovative tech environment.

Responsibilities- Advise on employment matters across multiple jurisdictions (hiring, performance, leaves, terminations, investigations)
- Advise Payroll on wage and hour compliance, including classifications and overtime
- Manage employment disputes from demand to resolution, including litigation and regulatory actions
- Conduct or oversee workplace investigations and advise on remediation and decisions
- Advise on executive compensation and employee benefits programs (offers, severance, incentive plans, health/welfare/retirement)
- Support equity compensation programs and liquidity arrangements in partnership with Finance, People, Equity
- Advise on employment/benefits/exec comp in M&A/strategic transactions, including diligence and deal documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build programs, guidance, training, and processes
- Monitor developments in US/Canada/Latin America and advise on impact to workforce and programs
Key requirements- At least 3 years of legal experience in employment law and managing disputes
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active license in at least one US jurisdiction
- Experience handling sensitive employment matters (investigations, enforcement actions, complaints)
- Strong legal writing and drafting skills with experience in employment agreements or policies
- Ability to assess risks and provide clear, practical advice with discretion
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and drive matters with limited direction
