Overview In this role you apply Somali language expertise to support translation, interpretation, transcription, and summarization for national security efforts. You will work within a mission-driven team, delivering precise linguistic outputs and culturally informed insights. You'll engage across multilingual tasks, handle data-rich materials, and contribute to secure, production-ready intelligence outputs. Responsibilities- Translate materials between Somali and English with contextual accuracy
- Provide consecutive interpretation and occasional simultaneous interpretation
- Transcribe audio and video content into high-quality English reports
- Perform gisting and summarization to extract key facts from large datasets
- Identify and summarize critical information with effective use of reference materials
- Support security clearance processes; Leidos sponsorship for eligible candidates and language tests
- Travel and deploy to OCONUS locations as required
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent terminology and subject matter norms
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree (or higher) with 4-8 years of experience or Master's with 2-6 years of experience
- Translation and/or interpretation degree highly desired
- Pass Leidos language proficiency tests at Primary level or higher
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
- Must complete sponsor-related training and medical/physical screens as required
- Willingness to travel OCONUS and support 24/7 operations during travel
