Overview In this role you will lead the structural design of substation foundations, steel structures, and equipment supports within Olsson's Transmission and Substation team. You'll work closely with electrical engineers and project managers to deliver robust, constructible designs across projects that modernize power delivery. You'll mentor junior engineers, review designs, and support projects through all phases from concept to construction. This position offers meaningful, hands-on work on critical infrastructure with opportunities to influence outcomes on a national grid scale.

Responsibilities- Structural design & analysis for substation facilities (foundations, steel structures, equipment supports)
- Support projects through all phases: conceptual design, detailed engineering, permitting, construction administration
- Coordinate with electrical engineers, designers, and other disciplines for coordinated designs
- Provide technical leadership and design reviews for junior engineers and designers
- Engage in client meetings, respond to contractor RFIs, and provide construction support with limited travel to sites
Key requirements- 6+ years of progressive structural engineering experience (substation or industrial facilities preferred)
- Experience designing concrete foundations and structural steel systems
- Working knowledge of ACI, AISC, IBC, ASCE codes and standards
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred or achievable within a reasonable timeframe
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (structural emphasis)
