Overview In this role you will lead the design and implementation of embedded control systems for GM Defense customers, mentoring the team and guiding software architecture. You'll work on vehicle and non-vehicle platforms, tackling complex algorithms and optimizing performance across electrical architectures. Expect fast-paced, autonomous work with direct impact on critical programs, including in-house controls and Vehicle Interface Modules. You will collaborate across GM and defend-focused programs to balance best practices with government specs, driving meaningful system improvements.
Compensation / Benefits Responsibilities- Lead design and testing of complex controls using C, MATLAB, and Simulink for vehicle and non-vehicle applications
- Collaborate with systems integration to implement propulsion and chassis control algorithms into supervisory controls
- Describe, report on, and defend algorithm design choices to technical leadership
- Drive calibration of controls to optimize overall system performance
- Collaborate with embedded controls teams across GM to implement GM Defense-specific requirements
- Develop and baseline requirements for embedded controls and software
- Lead software verification and feature validation initiatives
- Balance GM Best Practices with government specifications for compliance
- Lead electrical design/peer reviews and present updates to cross-functional teams
- Stay current with simulation and controls methods and integrate new technologies into workflows
Key requirements- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- Extensive embedded controls experience (algorithm, software or calibration)
- 5+ years' experience in C programming, MATLAB, and Simulink
- Experience with Agile CI/CD workflows and automated build environments
- Experience with INCA and Vehicle Spy (VSpy), as well as Git/Jenkins
- Deep familiarity with data logging tools and file formats
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
