Overview In this role you drive profitable growth in a targeted territory by underwriting new business, cultivating strong agency partnerships, and identifying new opportunities. You combine risk evaluation with smart pricing to deliver fast, accurate quotes, endorsements, audits, and policies. You will meet performance targets, manage risk through inspections, and mentor junior underwriters while collaborating on reinsurance strategies. Responsibilities- Underwrite new commercial lines business in the assigned territory
- Build and manage agency relationships to grow profitable business
- Evaluate risk, set property limits, price policies, and establish terms within authority
- Provide fast, accurate quotes, endorsements, audits, and policy services
- Meet performance targets and manage risk via inspections and audits
- Mentor junior underwriters and collaborate on reinsurance strategies
- Educate and engage agencies to strengthen partnerships and drive growth
Key requirements- 6+ years of commercial lines P&C underwriting experience
- Excess & Surplus (E&S) background highly preferred and General Liability experience
- Proven ability to manage agency relationships and grow profitability
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Windows tools and online underwriting platforms (e.g., SAGE, Silver Plume, Reference Connect)
- Willingness to travel within the territory
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
- Advanced insurance coursework (CPCU, ASLI, AU) or related classes a plus
- Experience with independent agents preferred
