Overview As CNC Machining Capability Project Engineer, you will assess and develop external machining suppliers for complex CNC milling and turning. You'll translate technical capability into strategic sourcing to drive cost savings and competitiveness. You'll partner with supply chain, sourcing, quality, and operations to ensure supplier performance. This role bridges engineering intent and supplier execution, providing hands-on machining expertise to guide supplier selection and development. You'll lead technical evaluations and tackle manufacturing challenges to enable on-time, high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities- Lead technical assessments of machining suppliers (3-5 axis CNC milling/turning) and tolerances/GD&T
- Review RFQ/RFP drawings for manufacturability, quality, volume, and program fit
- Support supplier kickoff, drawings reviews, and cost/cycle time analysis
- Participate in source selection as the machining technical authority
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Quality, and Operations to mitigate risk and ensure compliance
Key requirements- Bachelor in Engineering or higher; PMP/PRINCE2 or advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years in engineering with 4+ years leading large, multi-disciplinary projects ($5M budget, 10+ team members)
- Expertise in CAD/CAE, GD&T, BOM management, and PLM/ERP tools
- Strong Earned Value, risk registers, and schedule control experience
- Proven leadership, communication, and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR/EAR, and root-cause analysis for continuous improvement
