Overview In this role you will lead Ascend Analytics' corporate accounting, driving a timely 5-day monthly close and steering the annual audit. Responsibilities- Own ASC 606 revenue recognition and billing across the contract base, including non-standard terms, and monitor SaaS metrics (ARR, churn)
- Manage end-to-end cash flow: cash position, A/R collections, rolling 13-week forecast, disbursement approvals, leadership reporting
- Directly manage and develop the Senior Accountant, coaching and prioritizing workload
- Lead monthly close within 5 business days and prepare GAAP financial statements with complete reconciliations
- Oversee the annual financial statement audit from planning to delivery, coordinating with auditors and managing issues
- Handle tax compliance for income and sales tax and manage outside preparers
- Maintain banking relationships and oversee quarterly compliance reporting
- Provide clear flux and variance commentary for leadership
- Review bi-weekly payroll for accuracy and collaborate with HR/Payroll on discrepancies
- Own quarterly commission process and support annual budgeting and cross-functional initiatives
- Maintain and optimize finance systems (Maxio, QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Avalara, Numeric)
- Tackle ad hoc analyses and cross-functional projects to support strategic decisions
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Deep knowledge of ASC 606 and SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR)
- Experience owning an external financial statement audit end-to-end
- Experience managing multi-jurisdiction tax compliance (income and sales tax)
- Experience managing cash flow and A/R collections
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/billing systems like QuickBooks, Maxio, Ramp, Avalara, Numeric
- Attention to detail with multiple deadlines and independent work ethic
- Experience at a SaaS or technology company
- Prior management or mentoring of accounting staff (preferred)
- CPA and public accounting experience (preferred)
- Experience with Avalara or similar sales tax tool (preferred)
- Experience building/workflows with AI (preferred)
