Overview As a Mechanical Engineer at Helion, you will design and develop hardware for fusion devices, solving multidisciplinary challenges to scale fusion energy. You'll collaborate with engineers and technicians in a fast-moving, onsite team focused on delivering robust hardware for Polaris and related projects. You will contribute to CAD design, analysis, and hands-on testing, shaping the hardware that enables a world-class fusion program. Responsibilities- Own and improve subsystem designs across electromagnetic, structural, fluid, thermal, and control systems
- Design hardware in CAD (NX/SolidWorks) and validate with analyses
- Perform FEA-based analysis (ANYS, FEMAP) and lead design reviews
- Troubleshoot hardware issues on integrated fusion generators
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians and contribute to team culture
- Learn from historical approaches and design novel hardware for testing and integration
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 5+ years delivering full-scope engineering projects with schedule ownership
- Experience applying first-principles and method-based problem solving
- Hands-on exposure to mechanical, electrical, and fluids disciplines
- Advanced CAD experience (NX, SolidWorks)
- Experience with FEA software (ANYS, FEMAP)
