Overview In this role you lead underground utilities construction projects, overseeing field operations, safety, and delivery. You will coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and utilities to ensure on-time, on-budget completion. You shape project execution from planning to closeout and mentor field personnel. This position offers hands-on leadership in Sacramento/Bay Area projects with a strong focus on safety and quality, delivering critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities- Oversee underground utilities construction across water, sewer, storm drain, gas, electrical, and telecom projects
- Manage field operations, crews, subcontractors, and equipment
- Ensure safety, schedule adherence, and budget compliance
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, utility companies, and municipalities
- Enforce safety protocols and quality control standards
- Prepare project schedules, reports, and change orders
- Mentor and develop field personnel
Key requirements- 10+ years of direct experience managing underground utilities construction
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale underground utility projects
- Knowledge of underground construction methods, shoring, trench safety, OSHA/CAL-OSHA regulations
- Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and specs
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and handle physically demanding environments
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in the Greater Sacramento / Bay Area
- Relevant certifications (e.g., 30-Hour OSHA, Trenching & Excavation)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
