Overview

As Mechanical Engineer III at S&C Electric, you coordinate the engineering function to ensure robust, manufacturable electromechanical solutions. You will lead complex problem solving, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the full product development lifecycle. You'll apply CAD/FEA to design validation, conduct analyses, and drive design reviews with cross functional teams. Your work supports safer, more reliable grids and ongoing innovation in energy resilience.

Responsibilities
  • Support the full product development cycle from concept to release ensuring performance and manufacturability
  • Perform simulation, stress/strain and tolerance analyses to solve design challenges
  • Create and maintain mechanical designs and documentation using CAD; apply GD&T to drawings
  • Communicate with suppliers and external partners to ensure production readiness
  • Coordinate with project managers, electrical engineers, and stakeholders for aligned execution
  • Drive mechanical testing, validation, and data driven design decisions
  • Oversee new product design concepts and prototyping, supporting design reviews
  • Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for electromechanical subsystems
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Adhere to company policies and compliance requirements
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Strong CAD and FEA proficiency
  • Experience with electromechanical systems and component design
  • Good problem-solving and cross functional communication skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies, preferably electronics manufacturing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration across diverse audiences
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation abilities
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and data driven decision making
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools
  • Preferred: Project Planning certification
