Overview In this role you will provide process control systems engineering for Air Products' Baton Rouge/Geismar facilities, focusing on DCS, SIS, and PLC automation to keep plants safe and productive. You will collaborate with regional engineers, operations, and staff on capital projects and reliability initiatives that improve safety and efficiency. The position offers hybrid work with local travel and opportunities to influence instrumentation, control upgrades, and cyber security across critical hydrogen-related assets. Responsibilities- Provide process control systems engineering support for production facilities in Baton Rouge / Geismar region
- Support sites with SMR hydrogen and CO production, offgas purification, and hydrogen pipelines
- Implement changes to improve safety and operability; conduct root cause analyses with automation vendors
- Identify and support DCS & SIS improvement projects; lifecycle planning for control systems
- Plan programming, preventive maintenance, and upgrade migrations; address obsolescence
- Modify control logic, HMI, and databases; document changes
- Coordinate with local I&E technicians; lead instrument-related activities
- Contribute to asset reliability, cyber security, and cost-reduction initiatives
- Meet safety goals and align with operations and engineering standards
- Collaborate with regional process controls engineers, plant process engineers, and site staff
Key requirements- Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree with 10+ years of experience in process automation and instrumentation
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; ability to operate a personal vehicle
- Legal eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship
- Self-motivated; strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment with shared responsibilities
- Effective communicator; ability to present complex topics to diverse audiences
- Hands-on knowledge of control systems (DCS/PLC)
- Experience with Siemens PCS7 or ABB 800xA
- Knowledge of field instrumentation (valves, transmitters)
