Overview In this role you will lead on-site systems engineering for Comtech's satellite IP hardware and software solutions, ensuring deployment, commissioning, and reliable network performance. You will act as a senior technical escalation point, guiding Support Engineers and coordinating with product and R&D teams. The role involves hands-on lab work, field deployments, and on-call support to resolve complex customer issues. You will collaborate across engineering, sales, and customer teams to deliver effective, technically sound solutions. This is a strategic role for driving technical readiness and customer success in a global, field-facing environment.
Responsibilities- Provide expert systems engineering, installation, testing, and troubleshooting support for satellite IP hardware and software.
- Travel to customer sites for installation, audits, debugging, and training.
- Serve as primary technical escalation point for complex hardware/software issues and drive root-cause analysis.
- Lead hardware and software verification and testing in the lab, including releases and patches.
- Support customers and sales engineering with network design, installation, debugging, and services.
- Maintain and manage the engineering lab, including equipment, configurations, and documentation.
- Deliver training and knowledge transfer to Technical Support teams and maintain thorough testing documentation.
Key requirements- Strong knowledge of IP networking (TCP/IP, UDP, QoS, SNMP, HTTP, IPsec).
- Experience with satellite earth stations, VSAT, RF systems, and RF chain components (HPA/BUC, LNA/LNB).
- Experience with LAN/WAN infrastructure, Windows and Linux environments.
- Hands-on lab and field testing experience with packet/protocol analyzers and RF test equipment.
- Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.
- Working knowledge of relational databases (MS SQL, MySQL) and data analysis.
- Collaborative, able to build relationships across multiple teams and manage priorities.
- 7-10 years of related experience; bachelor's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering.
