Overview As Privacy Counsel you advise AWS teams on privacy requirements and risk strategies to support compliant, scalable products. You'll shape privacy governance across jurisdictions and collaborate with product, engineering, and business leaders to embed privacy by design. You monitor evolving laws and provide strategic guidance while supporting privacy-related legal engagements. This role blends tactical advisory work with long-term privacy strategy to enable responsible innovation at scale.

Responsibilities- Advise AWS business units and product teams on privacy requirements, risk mitigation and best practices for global privacy laws and regulations
- Develop and maintain privacy governance frameworks, policies and processes to support compliance across jurisdictions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy into new services and business initiatives
- Monitor evolving privacy laws and regulatory developments and provide strategic recommendations
- Support legal proceedings and engagements on privacy-related matters
Key requirements- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- 3+ years focused on privacy and data protection
- Experience representing organizations on data protection/privacy matters across multiple jurisdictions
- Knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, including U.S. state laws and GDPR
- Experience developing privacy governance frameworks, policies and compliance processes
- Cross-functional collaboration
