Overview As a Vehicle Engineer in Exponent's Vehicle Engineering Practice, you analyze transportation accidents and mechanical failures to assess design and safety of products. You will lead projects, communicate with clients and teammates, and identify business opportunities. You will conduct original automotive research, develop expertise in automotive technology, and perform site inspections. This role offers growth toward building a consulting practice within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities- Manage projects from initiation to completion and communicate updates to team, clients, and staff
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality work and meet deadlines
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities
- Perform original research in accident reconstruction/automotive technology
- Develop specialized expertise in automotive design and performance
- Travel to conduct site, scene, vehicle, and equipment inspections
- Prepare written reports and present findings to diverse audiences
Key requirements- Masters (with thesis) or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering field)
- At least 4 years of automotive experience or engineering consulting
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and vehicles
- Hands-on field or lab measurement experience
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of dynamics, mechanical design, and 3D CAD
- P.E. license or willingness to obtain one
- Strong leadership and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
- Clear written communication and technical writing skills
