Overview In this role you lead and execute power system protection projects spanning distribution to transmission levels, shaping grid resiliency and economic operation. You will guide technical work, mentor junior engineers, and serve as the primary client contact on complex assignments. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop design bases, protection settings, and relay configurations. This position offers pathways into leadership and direct impact on critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Execute complex protection-related assignments utilizing advanced electrical engineering methods to develop new or improved processes and methods.
- Develop plans for major projects and assess feasibility when data is limited.
- Coordinate studies and design assignments across departments or divisions.
- Perform power system studies and protection settings coordination up to 500-kV, and generate native relay configuration files.
- Provide technical guidance, conduct design reviews, and support quality control.
- Serve as primary client contact and assist project manager with scope and conceptual design.
- Train, guide, and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives.
Key requirements- Bachelor in Electrical Engineering + 3 years in electrical systems studies (electric utility or industrial power distribution).
- Master in Electrical Engineering + 2 years in related experience (optional alternative).
- Professional Engineer licensure strongly preferred.
