Senior Behavioral Scientist, Nudge Unit & Behavioral Insights

Overview

In this role you apply behavioral science to improve decisions, experiences, and health outcomes for members, providers, and employees. You'll lead diverse projects from concept to delivery, mentor teammates, and influence strategic priorities within BCBSMA's Nudge Unit. You'll work with cross-functional partners to deploy evidence-based interventions and stay ahead of emerging practices. This is a chance to shape patient and provider experiences at scale within a mission-driven team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of behavioral science projects across a diverse portfolio
  • Serve as a technical lead ensuring rigor and practical application of methods
  • Develop high-quality reports, proposals, and presentations
  • Guide research design, literature reviews, data analysis, and evaluation activities
  • Coach and mentor internal staff on project execution and technical approaches
  • Collaborate with the Director to shape strategic priorities and expand behavioral science work
  • Support coalition-building with diverse stakeholders around evidence-based solutions
  • Oversee project timelines and deliverables to ensure on-time completion
  • Stay informed of emerging research and integrate new evidence and approaches
Key requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying behavioral science to real-world challenges
  • Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary projects from design through implementation
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and program evaluation
  • Experience mentoring or supervising colleagues and supporting professional development
  • Ability to build relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders across sectors
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for diverse audiences
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of US health care industry and external environment (preferred)
