Overview As Assistant Director, you will lead the Campus Energy & Resource Conservation division within UW Facilities to ensure compliant, reliable, 24/7 utility operations for the Seattle campus. You'll drive strategic planning, budgeting, safety, and capital energy projects across 200+ buildings and 700 acres. You collaborate with engineers, regulators, and campus partners to meet climate and CBPS requirements while improving efficiency. This role offers impact at scale in a world-class university setting. You will shape programs that advance sustainability and operational excellence.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic planning and management for the Campus Energy & Resource Conservation division
- Oversee budget and energy conservation purchase budgets; develop biennial minor works budget with project engineers
- Ensure safe, compliant 24/7 operation of campus infrastructure and adherence to Environmental Health and Safety
- Lead and develop division staff, including performance feedback, coaching, and hiring decisions
- Provide technical direction for major capital energy/building improvements and coordinate with UW Facilities leadership
- Develop directives to comply with environmental, safety, and CBPS requirements; coordinate with external authorities and campus departments
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related degree program
- Eight+ years of management or supervisory experience in capital management, capital development and/or energy/resource management including budget responsibilities
