Controls Engineer - HYBRID in Seattle, WA

Overview

As a Controls Engineer, you design and implement building automation systems for new and retrofit projects, collaborating with Sales Support, Mechanical Engineering, and BAS Controls Engineering. You will interpret plans, submittals, and control drawings, and develop sequences of operations and manuals. You'll perform hardware and software engineering and commission BAS networks on diverse projects, while upholding regulations and delivering excellent service. This role connects technical execution with cost-aware engineering to support project success and customer value. You'll work in a collaborative, growth-focused environment with a strong culture and hybrid work setup.

Responsibilities
  • Read, analyze, and interpret plans, submittals, mechanical specs, contract documents, and control drawings
  • Perform hardware engineering, software engineering, and network-level commissioning for Building Automation Systems on new and retrofit projects
  • Interpret project financials and apply value engineering to understand cost impacts
  • Develop new processes to ensure cost-effective controls engineering while delivering excellent customer service
  • Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations
  • Communicate and present information effectively to management, customers, and field teams
  • Develop and/or write sequences of operations and procedure manuals
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent technical/combined professional experience)
  • 0-3+ years of controls professional experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, REVIT, or Solidworks
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls engineering for HVAC in commercial building construction
  • Experience with retrofit projects and renovations
  • Experience with reading, analyzing, and interpreting plans, submittals, specs, documents, and control drawings
