Overview As a Quality Assurance/Safety Specialist at ERG, you will support explosives safety, OSH, and QA in energetics processing and decontamination environments. You will perform hazard analyses and assess MPPEH to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures. You will advance training and enforce safety protocols to enable safe operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify hazards and implement controls, contributing to mission-critical projects at NSF Indian Head. Responsibilities- Oversee safety aspects of explosives/energetics decontamination in processing facilities
- Conduct hazard analyses for energetics operations
- Assess and document MPPEH safety status
- Maintain and apply OSH and explosives safety training beyond minimum requirements
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and applicable regulations
- Support safety and quality assurance activities for explosives and energetics operations
- Review operations to identify hazards and implement appropriate controls
Key requirements- 10+ years of explosives safety experience; 5+ years as explosives safety and OSH officer
- Proven track record of enforcing safety protocols
- Training/experience in 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards
- Training/experience in 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards
- Certified in Gas Free Engineering
- Respirator fit testing qualification
- State-certified Asbestos supervisor certification
- DOT Explosive Handler physical certification
- MPPEH Training per NAVSEA OP-5
- HAZWOPer (40-hour)
- Military Munitions Rule and Naval Explosives Safety (AMMO-49-DL or AMMO-18-DL)
- Must hold or be able to obtain DoD Secret-level security clearance
