Overview

In this leadership role, you will guide high-level tax engagements at a well-established CPA firm in the Phoenix area. You'll oversee complex return work, strategic planning, and client advisement while mentoring staff and driving department growth. You'll collaborate with client teams and external advisors to deliver personalized tax and accounting solutions that align with client goals. Responsibilities
  • Manage client engagements including financial statements, tax returns, and work papers to ensure on-time delivery and quality
  • Review complex federal, multi-state, international returns for various entity types
  • Serve as trusted advisor to clients, identifying issues and proposing solutions
  • Provide guidance on tax planning opportunities and growth strategies for clients
  • Research tax issues and communicate recommendations to clients
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise staff; support team development
  • Engage in business development and client relationship management activities
  • Contribute to strategic planning and departmental development led by principals
  • Ensure adherence to tax and engagement quality control standards
Key requirements
  • 8+ years of recent public accounting tax experience
  • Active CPA, EA, or equivalent certification
  • Experience in preparing/reviewing complex tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements and supervise staff
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with tax software and MS Office suite (Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of multi-state and international tax issues; retirement planning a plus
