Overview

As Mission Critical Mechanical Design Leader, you guide mechanical design for mission-critical buildings, leading a Mechanical Engineering team to produce construction documents in Revit and to meet project schedules. You collaborate across disciplines within an integrated design firm to deliver highly coordinated facilities. You'll drive profitability through planning, staffing, and client engagement while advancing industry-leading design standards. This role offers impact across complex data-center projects and a culture that values collaboration and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Mechanical Engineering Discipline for Mission Critical projects, aligning operations with delivery goals
  • Plan and manage mechanical engineering projects and staffing to meet profitability targets
  • Assign tasks and balance workload to support revenue growth
  • Schedule and document staff/client meetings to ensure alignment
  • Partner with sector and practice leadership on recruitment, training, and personnel evaluation
  • Support business development through RFPs, interviews, and industry involvement to build the DLR Group brand
  • Promote best workplace practices to foster a strong, collaborative culture
  • Develop concepts through construction, including calculations, reports, and coordination
  • Conduct quality control of mechanical plans and specifications
  • Direct or coordinate work of personnel, vendors, and consultants
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer
  • 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience (HVAC, central utility plants, plumbing, fire suppression)
  • 5+ years in data center design experience
  • Understanding of design-construction processes and cross-disciplinary communication
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit MEP) workflows
