Senior AI/ML Applied Scientist - Remote

In this role you will advance enterprise AI solutions for healthcare, working within Optum AI to develop cutting-edge ML and NLP systems. You will partner with RUAI to ensure responsible use and compliance, while contributing to research, documentation, and publications. You will collaborate with engineering teams to build robust data pipelines and stay current with the latest AI research. • Apply advanced statistical, predictive modeling, and Agentic AI to optimize healthcare and digital experiences
• Collaborate with the Responsible Use of AI (RUAI) team to ensure solutions comply with policies and standards
• Research innovative approaches for developing Agentic AI and apply findings to solutions
• Develop code and model documentation, patents and publications in scientific venues
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop robust data pipelines and MLOps procedures for new solutions
• Stay up to date with latest technologies and literature

• MS in computer science or related quantitative field with 4+ years AI/ML experience OR PhD in AI/ML related field
• 3+ years AI/ML experience (LLM, NLP)
• Experience with LLM frameworks and NLP approaches such as text embedding and text classification
• Expertise in Large Language Modeling and Transformer Architectures with prompt engineering, evaluation, and LLM optimization
• Proficiency in Python for AI/ML engineering development
