Overview In this role you lead System Safety Engineering for National Security Space programs in Sunnyvale, guiding a team of engineers to ensure safe, compliant designs. You will steer safety analysis across the product lifecycle, influence program direction, and support business capture while advancing a culture of innovation and integrity. You'll work with cross-functional teams on high-stakes missions, including space systems and launch safety initiatives. Responsibilities- Manage and mentor NSS system safety engineers
- Direct support for one or more NSS programs
- Oversee System Safety Engineering processes across the product lifecycle
- Lead safety analyses and recommendations for design, equipment, facilities, and procedures
- Support maintenance of Space Command Media
- Direct and conduct program audits for Space Command Media compliance
- Support new business capture including proposal coordination and execution
- Lead culture-change initiatives within Systems Engineering
- Identify opportunities for horizontal integration to add value and competitiveness
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline
- Experience leading and mentoring diverse engineering teams
- Experience with MIL-STD-882E and AFSPCMAN/SSCMAN 91-710 or equivalent standards
- Systems Engineering/System Safety experience including requirements derivation, decomposition, and/or verification
- Experience evaluating contractual requirements across the product lifecycle
- Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance (US Citizenship required)
