Overview In this Co-op, you support the paper mill's safety program by developing training and evaluation for accident prevention and conducting site safety audits. You'll help ensure regulatory compliance and assist in improving health, safety, and fire prevention measures. You'll update and refine the Noise Control Plan and contribute to emergency readiness through inspections and contractor audits. This role offers practical, hands-on experience in a large, continuous-operation manufacturing environment.
Compensation / Benefits- housing stipend of $1000 monthly (if >50 miles)

Responsibilities- Develop and implement training and evaluation programs for accident prevention
- Conduct site safety audits and contractor work-in-progress audits
- Recommend compliance measures with occupational and environmental safety regulations, health, and fire prevention
- Collaborate with employees to apply accident prevention measures
- Prepare reports updating Noise Control Plan using sound level meters and noise dosimetry
- Complete inventory of emergency response and mitigation systems via bar code technology
- Perform monthly inspections of ladders, eyewash/showers, and fire extinguishers
- Work across multiple shifts, including during outages and unscheduled shutdowns
Key requirements- Student in good standing majoring in Occupation Health & Safety, Environmental or equivalent safety program
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Eligibility to work in the US full-time; pass drug screen
- Interest in Pulp and Paper Manufacturing as a career
- Preferred: prior safety experience in industrial setting
