Overview Senior Associate Scientist at Iambic Therapeutics in San Diego, working within the Chemistry team to advance hit identification through lead optimization and candidate selection. You will collaborate across functions-medicinal chemistry, biology, DMPK, computational chemistry, ML, and software engineering-to execute discovery programs. The role emphasizes hands-on organic synthesis, catalysis, and medicinal chemistry with a drug-hunter mindset. You'll design and analyze compounds, contribute to data-driven decisions, and support platform development on an AI-enabled discovery platform.

Responsibilities- Design, synthesize, purify, and characterize compounds (10 mg-5 g) using LCMS, HPLC, and NMR, including parallel synthesis
- Identify and optimize reaction conditions via screening kits and streamlined methods
- Collaborate with the HTE team to execute parallel chemistry experiments
- Analyze biological and ADME-PK data using cheminformatics and contribute to strategic discussions
- Partner with computational chemists to apply ML insights for design-make-test and platform development
- Present results to project teams and senior leadership with clear data interpretation and recommendations
Key requirements- BS in Chemistry with 5+ years pharma/biotech or MS in Chemistry with 3+ years pharma/biotech
- Proven skills in multi-step organic synthesis, reaction optimization, SAR analysis, and scientific presentation
