Overview

As a Propulsion Development Engineer, you contribute to building and operating a new Denver propulsion test facility. You work with the Propulsion Development and Test team across requirements, design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning to enable early propulsion testing. This role offers broad exposure and hands-on impact as you help shape a ground-up test capability. You will grow quickly while working on hardware that matters in a high-stakes space domain.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain test stand requirements and traceability
  • Conduct trade studies on facility infrastructure, GSE configurations, and stand design; compile data and reports
  • Research components and instrumentation; support vendor engagement
  • Maintain test stand configuration documentation as decisions evolve
  • Assist in CAD modeling and drawings for test stand structures and fluid systems
  • Review drawings for compliance; manage redlines and actions
  • Support P&ID development and revision control
  • Create fabrication packages and BOMs
  • Perform and/or support calculations for pressure systems and structural analysis
  • Support hazard analyses and safety documentation
  • Assist with procurement, supplier evaluation, and tracking of long-lead hardware
  • Participate in installation, verification, and acceptance testing
  • Contribute to test plans, procedures, and data acquisition configurations
  • Support test execution as operator or data monitor
  • Assist with post-test data reduction and reporting
  • Maintain configuration control and as-built documentation
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in propulsion, fluid systems, test engineering, or mechanical design for aerospace/defense/high-reliability apps
  • Basic familiarity with propulsion or fluid system hardware (pressure vessels, valves, fittings, tubing, instrumentation)
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent) and ability to read/produce drawings
  • Exposure to pressure system design fundamentals (proof, burst, leak requirements)
  • Proficiency with data analysis and scripting (Python, MATLAB or equivalent)
  • Eagerness to learn, take ownership, and contribute across activities in a fast-paced environment
