Overview In this Manager role, you help leading clients with complex federal income tax issues in debt, derivatives, and digital assets. You'll work with a specialists team to interpret tax outcomes for multinational corporations, financial institutions, and asset managers across scenarios like debt workouts, M&A, and investment management. You will assess instrument classification, interest treatment, and derivative tax rules to manage compliance and risk. This role offers exposure to sophisticated tax challenges in a world-class practice and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities- Analyze federal income tax issues for a diverse client base (multinational corporations, financial institutions, investment funds)
- Advise on complex tax treatments for debt, derivatives, and digital assets
- Assess instrument classification (debt vs equity) and interest accrual/tax treatment
- Evaluate derivatives classifications (e.g., notional principal contracts) and straddle rule implications
- Determine tax consequences of digital asset loans
- Collaborate with local office tax professionals and clients to manage risk in sophisticated business environments
Key requirements- Bachelor in accounting, finance, or related field
- 3+ years' experience in taxation in a law firm or 5+ years' experience in taxation at a law firm, public accounting firm or similar practice environment
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for CPA exam OR licensed attorney OR enrolled agent OR CFA/CFP certifications
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
- Hybrid work model requiring in-person co-location 2-3 days per week
