Overview In this role you will bridge mechanical design and modern C++ software to create advanced robotic and mechatronic systems. You will work across hardware and software boundaries to design, prototype, simulate, and validate integrated solutions. Responsibilities- Design, implement, and optimize high-performance C++ code for embedded systems, robotics control, autonomy, and simulation infrastructure
- Produce mechanical designs, assemblies, and 2D/3D drawings in SolidWorks with attention to manufacturability and integration
- Create and refine virtual models and simulations to validate behavior, dynamics, and control algorithms
- Prototype and test mechatronic systems with sensors, actuators, electronics, and custom components
- Develop software architectures using ROS/ROS2, Docker, Linux for simulation, autonomy, perception, and hardware integration
- Perform mechanical analysis including stress, tolerances, material considerations, and dynamic modeling
- Prototype rapidly with 3D printing and machining, fabricating electromechanical assemblies
- Analyze simulation and hardware data to improve performance and resolve complex interactions
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and systems teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Document mechanical and software systems clearly and rigorously
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5-7 years of combined mechanical engineering and software development experience
- Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ (C+/14/17 or higher) for embedded, real-time, robotics
- Extensive hands-on experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drawings
- Experience with robotics, mechatronics, or electromechanical systems, including actuation and sensors
- Proficiency with Linux development, command-line tools, Git workflows, and Docker
- Experience with simulation environments for robotic or mechanical system modeling (Gazebo or similar)
- Strong analytical skills across mechanical, electrical, and software components
- Ability to prototype, test, and iterate designs quickly, virtually and physically
