Overview In this senior finance role, you guide the university's capital and operating finances, partnering with leadership to shape long-range plans and financial policies. You'll oversee budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and capital projections, influencing major capital decisions and operating impact assessments. You will lead and develop the Finance team, drive process improvements, and ensure financial strategies align with Creighton's mission. This is a high-impact, cross-functional position with a clear focus on sustainable growth and financial stewardship.
Responsibilities- Oversee operating and capital budgets ( $55M operating, $150M capital) and provide oversight on budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and goal setting
- Partner with Vice Provosts and leadership on short- and long-term strategic planning and key financial decisions
- Develop 1- to 10-year capital projections and track project commitments and spending; forecast incremental operating impact of new buildings
- Support pro forma development for new residence or dining halls as needed
- Lead development and advising of long-range financial and organizational planning; drive efficiency and professional growth within the team
- Collaborate with financial staff to automate finance processes and improve policies, guidelines, and procedures
- Monitor financial performance; prepare forecasts, analyses, and recommendations to achieve accountability and growth
- Partner with institutional leaders to evaluate project feasibility and ensure alignment with strategic goals and financial capacity
- Oversee capital project tracking, reporting, budgets, schedules, and risks; highlight variances
- Prepare financial results presentations for diverse audiences; provide ad hoc analyses as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the University
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance; Master's degree and/or CPA preferred
- 6+ years of progressively responsible finance experience leading a complex organization
- Collaborative and team-oriented leadership
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial audiences
