Overview

In this role you will lead a regional sales team to drive new customer acquisition and revenue growth for OpenGov's public sector platform. You'll recruit, coach, and develop field sales executives, shaping territory strategy and aiming to exceed objectives. You'll stay close to customers, influence the sales process, and partner across functions to maintain high integrity and service. This is a high-visibility leadership position in a mission-driven company that powers more effective government. You will help expand our market impact while building a high-performance sales culture.

Responsibilities
  • Develop territory strategy to drive revenue growth and partnerships
  • Coach team to operate as hunters and consultative sellers
  • Recruit, hire, and develop a premier sales team
  • Navigate complex sales cycles from start to close
  • Forecast monthly/quarterly performance within 10% variance
  • Maintain hands-on field presence and participate in customer cycles
  • Identify and negotiate major opportunities with executive support
  • Leverage sales framework to improve pipeline and forecasting
  • Understand product line, industry, and competition to drive growth
  • Set a performance-driven, values-aligned culture
  • Promote open communication and collaboration across the org
  • Report sales activities and forecasts to senior management
  • Overachieve quota
  • Collaborate with SDR, R&D, Marketing, Sales Ops, Professional Services, and Customer Success
Key requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of direct SaaS/B2B/enterprise software sales experience to VP/SVP/C-level executives
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Experience managing high-growth sales teams (hiring, retaining, mentoring)
  • Willingness to travel at least 50%
  • Proven track record meeting/exceeding revenue quotas in field sales
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service focus
  • Self-starter and closer with ability to build large pipelines quickly
  • Deep knowledge of sales methodologies and processes
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with a CRM, ideally Salesforce
