Overview In this role, you will provide high-voltage engineering oversight for utility-scale PV and BESS projects across development and construction. You will drive HV design, coordinate with internal teams and external contractors, and ensure compliance with industry standards. You'll lead technical reviews, scope development, and commissioning planning to de-risk projects and support successful energization. This position sits within Arevon's Engineering team and offers impact across project lifecycle at scale, shaping resilient renewable energy assets.

Responsibilities- Lead HV design from development to Final Completion for utility-scale PV and BESS projects
- Develop HV engineering, procurement, and construction scopes and manage 3rd-party contractor negotiations (EOR/EPC)
- Review HV equipment specs, data sheets, drawings, studies, and calculations
- Assess civil, structural, and electrical deliverables and respond to HV technical RFIs
- Manage design phase and execution with EOR/EPC partners; address project execution HV concerns
- Perform due diligence on project docs (PPAs, Interconnection Agreements, drawings, data sheets) and flag fatal flaws
- Participate in constructability reviews to optimize cost/schedule
- Review HV design calculations (loads, short circuit, dynamics, harmonics, protection)
- Support HV budget estimation and align with project technical due diligence
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEC, IBC, NFPA; travel to active and development sites
- Function as in-house HV commissioning lead for substation, gen-tie, and switchyard
- Liaise with Project Management and senior management on engineering progress and permitting issues
Key requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years HV engineering experience in solar, BESS, or related industries
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge of solar PV & BESS systems including SCADA and monitoring
- Experience with HV design, optimization, suppliers, specs, and costs; contracting approaches
- Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEC, IBC, NFPA standards relevant to solar, BESS, and substation design
- Experience with HV facilities (69 kV to 500 kV), substations, switchyards, gen-tie, and related systems
- Understanding of NERC, FERC, interconnection studies, and energy grid reliability
- Ability to interpret utility, NERC, and FERC requirements during design, commissioning, and readiness
- Proficient in MS Office, Windows; knowledge of BlueBeam; ability to learn Aconex, SiteTracker
