Component Design Engineer - Large Engine

Overview

In this role you will design core engine components for large engines as part of a global team. You will influence component selection, validate designs, and apply NPI processes to deliver reliable, cost-aware solutions. You'll partner with manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to advance engine programs and support continuous improvement. The position offers exposure to diesel, natural gas, and alternative-fuel engines and the opportunity to mentor others. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment focused on durable, high-performance components with real-world impact.

Responsibilities
  • Design core engine components (heads, blocks, housings) as part of a global team
  • Promote new components and sub-processes
  • Conduct technical evaluation of design, reliability, durability, validation cost, and program requirements
  • Apply New Product Implementation (NPI) processes to perform FMEAs, validation plans, and validation activities
  • Evaluate new products, processes, or systems including supplier change requests
  • Deliver projects on time and within cost for NTI, NPI, CPI, and NSI programs
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units
  • Lead supplier collaboration and CPPD (Continuous Product & Process Development)
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant experience
  • Analytical thinking with root-cause analysis
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
  • Technical excellence and problem-solving capability
  • Experience with CAD/engineering tools and product design concepts
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, testing, and validation
  • Knowledge of APQP, CPPD, FMEAs, and design release procedures
