Overview

In this role you will design and optimize building mechanical systems for water, wastewater, and industrial facilities, collaborating within the Infrastructure Design Department. You'll tackle HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection challenges across diverse building types, from treatment plants to laboratories. You'll coordinate with architects, clients, and field staff to deliver effective, code-compliant solutions and support project delivery at scale. This is a hands-on role with mentoring duties and cross-functional teamwork in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design complete HVAC systems and central plants compliant with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IBC, IECC
  • Design plumbing, drainage, and utility systems and fire protection using a performance-based approach
  • Develop calculations for HVAC loads, duct/pipe sizing, energy analyses, and life-cycle costs
  • Prepare drawings, specs, and basis of design reports; coordinate with vendors
  • Conduct field evaluations and develop as-built drawings
  • Lead meetings with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders; mentor junior engineers
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality; support field staff during construction phases
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years progressive building mechanical engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
