Overview In this role you drive tax leadership within a well-established public accounting firm, guiding client relationships and a growing tax team toward ownership potential. You will oversee complex federal and multi-state returns and lead planning conversations for business and high-net-worth clients. The position blends technical tax work with mentorship, engagement management, and business development in a growth-focused practice.

Responsibilities- Review and sign off on complex federal and multi-state returns (1040, C-Corp, S-Corp, partnership, estate, and trust)
- Lead tax planning discussions with clients, translating technical issues into actionable guidance
- Research and resolve complex federal and state tax questions with documented conclusions
- Supervise, review, and mentor staff and senior associates
- Manage engagement timelines, budgets, and client deliverables from kickoff through filing
- Build and deepen client relationships to support retention and practice growth
- Participate in firm-sponsored training and pursue a firm-paid master's degree in taxation (if desired)
Key requirements- Active CPA license required
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review complex individual and business returns across multiple entity types
- Strong federal and multi-state tax compliance and planning knowledge
