Overview As Chair, you will lead biostatistics as a core engine for biomedical discovery within a mission-driven institution. You will guide a large, diverse group of faculty, statisticians, and bioinformaticians to shape scientific questions, study design, analysis, and publication. You will strengthen collaborations across the research continuum and with national initiatives in pediatric cancer. This role offers the chance to influence strategic direction, mentor peers, and advance impactful methods in a standout cancer center setting.
Responsibilities- Provide strategic and academic leadership for the Biostatistics Department
- mentor and develop faculty, staff, and trainees
- secure external funding and manage budget
- embed biostatistics as a collaborative partner across research projects
- oversee study design, analysis, interpretation, and publication across clinical trials and translational studies
- support education and training through programs like the MS in Applied Biomedical Data Science
- coordinate with initiatives such as Children's Oncology Group and Childhood Cancer Survivor Study
- contribute to governance and shared resources within the cancer center
Key requirements- strong record of scholarship in statistical methodology
- demonstrated leadership experience
- experience in a cancer center or academic medical center is highly desirable
- ability to secure external funding and financial acumen
- commitment to faculty mentorship and career development
- PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field, or equivalent
