Overview

In this role you will manage and report on project costs to support large-scale construction initiatives, with a focus on rail/transit. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep budgets aligned with scope and schedule, delivering clear financial insight and forecasts. You'll work closely with project management to communicate progress and trends, driving responsible spend and informed decision-making. This position offers the chance to contribute to high-impact projects within Hill's client-first, lifecycle-focused practice.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor project budgets and review/analyze sub-contractor invoices
  • Prepare job costing reports aligned to WBS numbers
  • Perform cost-to-complete analysis considering staffing, contracts, expenditures, change orders and trends
  • Attend project meetings to provide financial information and budget trend insights
  • Provide progress reporting documents and briefing materials
  • Develop reporting tools to communicate project sequencing and progress
  • Review contractor/sub-consultant task orders for budget/contract capacity
  • Analyze bid awards and change orders against budget and forecast the current forecast at completion
  • Update contract commitments and reconcile actual expenditures, perform budget transfers, and maintain WBS continuity
Key requirements
  • 5+ years cost engineering experience in construction projects (preferably rail/transit)
  • Demonstrated experience managing and reporting cost components of large-scale projects
  • Proficiency with a large-scale cost reporting system
  • Ability to understand technical construction programs and communicate progress to technical and management audiences
