Overview As Senior Electrical Power Engineer, you will lead design and analysis for utility-scale power generation projects, including natural gas and renewables, serving as Owner's Engineer or Advisor. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and manage client relationships while supporting proposals and fee development. You will apply protection, control, grounding, and balance-of-plant design expertise to deliver reliable power systems from concept through commissioning. This role supports HDR's growth in the power generation market and offers the chance to influence project success and client outcomes.
Responsibilities- Lead power generation design projects and act as Owner's Engineer/advisor
- Mentor junior engineers and lead multi-discipline teams
- Manage client relationships and lead marketing activities including proposal writing, fee development, and WBS
- Develop design and engineering of record for power plant systems (protection, control, grounding, lighting, raceway) and balance-of-plant
- Prepare and review project baselines with Project Manager and Project Controller
- Oversee equipment specifications, construction support, and life-safety design
- Coordinate with teams on project reviews and ensure quality deliverables

Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical power generation design
- Experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation
- Proficient in MS Office and design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to lead and mentor staff in a multi-discipline team
- Experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
