Overview

In this role you will lead the School's financial planning and analysis, shaping the annual budget and multi-year plan to sustain research and teaching missions. You'll coordinate with the CFO and department leaders to translate complex finances into clear narratives for senior leadership. Your work drives resource allocation and strategic investments across a large, decentralized organization. This is a high-visibility position with impact on institutional strategy and financial sustainability.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the annual budget process and develop materials aligned with School and University priorities
  • Build and refine the multi-year financial plan with scenario modeling
  • Oversee management reporting for CFO and leadership; ensure timely, accurate insights
  • Lead monthly forecasts and ad hoc analyses to inform decision making
  • Analyze monthly and year-end results to identify key drivers and trends
  • Design financial materials for diverse audiences and present findings to non-financial stakeholders
  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives and streamline budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Liaise with departments, Facilities, IT, and University finance teams to align plans
  • Lead a team of three financial analysts and foster professional development
  • Represent the School in University-wide FP&A discussions and initiatives
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant finance experience
  • 7+ years in sponsored research finance within higher education, hospital, healthcare, or academic medical center
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Executive presence
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Ability to synthesize complex information for varied audiences
  • Excel modeling
  • ERP systems proficiency
  • PowerPoint presentations
