Overview In this role you contribute to industrial water projects by designing and evaluating process mechanical systems. You work within the Industrial Water team across planning, design, and construction phases, collaborating with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams. You will develop design documentation, CAD models, and P&ID elements, while applying sustainable design principles and cost awareness. Responsibilities- Support design documentation, plans, and reports for project elements
- Produce design output using CAD and 3D models of process mechanical systems
- Develop facility layouts, diagrams, and P&ID components
- Perform data gathering, engineering calculations, and testing procedures
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design intent compatibility
- Assist with shop drawings reviews, RFIs, site observation reports, and contract administration tasks
- Contribute to discipline specifications and selection of process mechanical systems and materials
- Participate in project coordination meetings and value engineering efforts
- Apply sustainable design principles and field-site exposure to broaden practical skills
- Adhere to Stantec's Quality System and standards
Key requirements- Basic knowledge of process mechanical systems, hydraulics, materials, and industry standards
- Understanding of engineering document production and relation of drawings to specs
- Experience with industrial wastewater treatment processes a plus (education or coursework)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD and Plant 3D a plus
- EIT (or ability to obtain)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering; ABET accreditation preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in process or mechanical engineering for industrial clients
- Ability to work in office and field environments; hybrid work may be available
