Overview

As a Controls Engineer at Design Group, you will develop automation solutions for capital projects and support integrated control systems for leading manufacturers. You'll join a collaborative control system integration practice and work with experienced engineers to deliver high-quality, on-time results. Responsibilities
  • Develop automation solutions across design, software configuration, testing, commissioning and start-up of automated manufacturing processes
  • Design automation control systems and create project documentation and drawings to meet client requirements
  • Diagnose automation problems and interface with teams, clients and vendors
  • Configure software and hardware packages per client specifications
  • Program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell) and HMI/SCADAs (FactoryTalk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition)
  • Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders
  • Manage engineering projects and project deliverables to schedule and scope
  • Manage site construction, installation, and start-up support of integrated control systems
  • Validate and commission facility systems following execution protocols and turnover to customer
  • Make an impact by applying expertise to strengthen client relationships
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of direct experience as a controls engineer in automated manufacturing environments
  • Experience in creating and designing automation control systems (PLC, SCADA)
  • Understanding of industrial control panel design and fabrication (UL508A)
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and controls (I&C)
  • Experience with engineering documentation (P&IDs, process flow diagrams, SOPs)
  • Field instrumentation, control system installation, and configuration
  • Familiarity with machine safety, electrical power distribution, and panel design
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Willingness to travel 30%-70%
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or similar field (preferred, not required)
