Overview As Associate Director of Applied AI, you will lead teams delivering enterprise AI solutions with a focus on generative AI and intelligent agents. You will align technical strategy with business needs, ensure responsible delivery in a regulated healthcare environment, and translate ideas into measurable outcomes for members, patients, and associates. You'll work across product, data science, engineering, and security to shape scalable, production-ready AI. This role offers impact at scale in Humana's healthcare mission.

Responsibilities- Lead teams building production-ready AI solutions to enhance healthcare delivery and member experience
- Define and execute the roadmap for applied AI aligned with enterprise priorities
- Evaluate and adopt ML, generative AI, LLMs, multimodal models, and intelligent agents
- Oversee scalable APIs, data pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation, and agent orchestration
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into reliable solutions
- Establish AI evaluation, observability, security, privacy, and maintainability standards
- Promote responsible AI practices and compliance with healthcare and data security requirements
- Stay current with AI tech and identify practical opportunities aligned with Humana's goals
Key requirements- 10+ years in AI/ML product development, engineering, or data science with leadership responsibilities
- Experience delivering enterprise AI/ML products or platforms
- Experience delivering generative AI or intelligent agent solutions in production
- Strong knowledge of ML fundamentals, deployment, evaluation, and MLOps
- Hands-on proficiency with Python and modern ML frameworks
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers or data scientists
- Strong communication and cross-functional partner skills
- Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/Data Science or related field, or equivalent experience
