Overview

Join Stantec's Los Angeles Civic Architecture studio as an Architect/Designer. You will help plan, design, and document civic facilities for state and municipal clients, collaborating across disciplines to deliver sustainable, value-driven projects. You'll work with BIM models, participate in critiques, and coordinate with clients and consultants to meet budgets and schedules. This role offers growth in a multidisciplinary, globally connected office and opportunities to influence public buildings and communities. You'll be part of a mission-led team delivering meaningful design at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and direct project work across its life cycle
  • Develop design concepts using sketches, models, diagrams, and massing studies
  • Develop 3D BIM models of buildings and components
  • Lead design critiques and reviews
  • Interpret building codes and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare architectural documentation across phases
  • Assist in bidding, addenda, and coordination during construction
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in client meetings and value analysis, including basic cost estimating
  • Prepare project specifications and coordinate with construction documents
  • Contribute to constructability reviews and QA/QC of projects
  • Ensure work aligns with budget, schedule, and planning
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in complex civic projects
  • Degree in Architecture from an accredited university
  • California architectural license or ability to attain within one year (preferred)
  • DBIA certification preferred
  • Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong coordination skills with contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Public speaking and networking confidence
  • Excellent writing and analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects
  • Valid driver's license and clean MVR
  • Willingness to travel within the US
