Principal IC Analog / Mixed Signal Design Engineer

Analog Devices

Wilmington, Massachusetts

Job description

Overview

As Principal Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer in the Data Center & Energy group, you lead architecture-to-silicon activities for high-reliability mixed-signal SoCs in FinFET nodes. You own analog design decisions across front-ends, regulators, and I/O interfaces, while guiding verification, layout collaboration, and production readiness. You mentor teams and influence roadmaps, IP reuse, and design methodology. This role combines hands-on design with technical leadership in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment to impact data-center solutions at scale.

Compensation / Benefits
  • medical, vision and dental coverage
  • 401k
  • paid vacation
  • holidays
  • sick time
  • discretionary performance-based bonus
Responsibilities
  • Own analog architecture and circuit design for complex mixed-signal SoC subsystems (precision voltage sensing, ADC front-ends, voltage references, regulators, bias generation, I/O interfaces)
  • Transistor-level design and optimization in deep submicron FinFET processes with device-level tradeoffs (leakage, mismatch, reliability)
  • Drive system-level partitioning decisions; define and validate specs at block, subsystem, and SoC levels
  • Lead mixed-signal verification including behavioral modeling, co-simulation with digital, and corner/Monte Carlo analysis
  • Collaborate with layout, DFT, and test engineering to ensure robust DFM and production testability; support silicon bring-up, characterization, and debug
  • Provide technical mentorship and design review leadership; establish reusable IP and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, digital, firmware, applications, customers) to translate system requirements into robust analog specifications
  • Contribute to product roadmaps, patent portfolio, and ADI's analog design methodology improvements
Key requirements
  • MSEE or PhD preferred; BSEE with 12+ years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience considered
  • Silicon-proven designs in deep submicron FinFET processes; deep understanding of device physics, mismatch, leakage, reliability
  • Experience designing precision analog circuits (voltage references, regulators, ADC front-ends, bias generators, comparators)
  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, AMS simulation environments
  • Experience from specification through layout, tapeout, silicon bring-up, and production release
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present design reviews and tradeoffs
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading design reviews
  • Familiarity with DFT, production test, and design-for-manufacturability in advanced CMOS
  • strong communication (written and verbal)
  • mentoring and leadership
  • cross-functional collaboration
  • mixed-signal IC design
  • FinFET process technologies
  • precision analog circuits (voltage references, regulators, ADC front-ends)
