Overview As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead electrical power design for municipal water/wastewater projects, guiding a multidisciplinary team within Arcadis' Resilience Water practice. You will deliver power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding designs while mentoring staff and coordinating with controls and process groups. This role blends technical leadership with project delivery, budgets, and business development. Responsibilities- Lead electrical design and coordination for water/wastewater projects with emphasis on medium/low voltage distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding
- Provide leadership and mentorship to electrical staff, including quality control reviews and guidance
- Manage project/task budgets and delivery schedules; balance workload across multiple assignments
- Support business development by preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets for new projects
- Coordinate with Control Systems and Process Mechanical teams in multi-discipline projects
- Establish design criteria, perform calculations, and develop drawings and specifications as Engineer of Record
- Conduct field inspections, condition assessments, and oversee construction with deviation and completion oversight
- Perform system analyses using ETAP, SKM Power Tools or similar software; publish power system studies with arc flash analysis
- Collaborate with leadership, participate in regional/national conferences, and advance technical knowledge
Key requirements- 12+ years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 820, NFPA 70E
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD; proficient in MS Office (SharePoint, Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook)
- Ability to mentor and manage junior engineers; capable of independent and collaborative work
