Overview As Head of Fund Accounting, you will lead the insurance operations accounting and ensure regulatory compliance and accurate financial reporting. You will manage a multi-entity finance team, coordinate with investment accounting, and drive intercompany settlements and statutory reporting. You will shape internal controls and guide technical accounting research to support audits and new product implications. This role offers impact across consolidated statements and group reporting in a dynamic insurance-focused hedge fund.
Responsibilities- Oversee insurance operations accounting including premium accounting, claims reserves, and reinsurance settlements
- Manage statutory financial reporting and regulatory compliance
- Coordinate with investment accounting on custodial matters and intercompany positions
- Supervise preparation of audited financial statements and disclosures
- Research and implement new accounting standards for SAP compliance
- Conduct annual audits of third-party administrators and regulatory examinations
- Design and maintain internal controls over insurance operations accounting
- Collaborate with actuarial teams on reserve development and policy liability movements
- Support senior leadership with ad hoc financial information
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 10+ years in life insurance accounting (15 years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of statutory accounting principles and GAAP for life insurance
- Ability to manage people, processes, and projects in a multi-entity environment
- Experience with general ledger and insurance accounting systems a plus
- Proven collaboration across geographically dispersed teams
- Excellent written and oral communication for presenting financial information
- Ability to research SAP accounting issues and reach technical conclusions
