Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide on-site advisory and design support to Navy facilities, focusing on safe, efficient, and sustainable mechanical systems. You will work within the Engineering and Design Division to deliver multi-discipline solutions for DoD projects, including MILCON, at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. You will drive compliant, integrated designs for HVAC, plumbing, energy, and fire protection systems, shaping critical infrastructure. This role offers hands-on impact on national defense facilities and opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare designs, plans, specs, and cost estimates for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, energy, control, and utilities)
  • Support major and complex government facilities projects, including MILCON
  • Deliver designs for renewable energy, power distribution, air pollution control, and process piping
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and Navy specs, codes, and regulations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and other disciplines to integrate mechanical systems into project designs
  • Provide independent, expert-level consultation for planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Navy/Marine facilities
Key requirements
  • ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree (preferred) with relevant facilities design experience
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and construction/utilities design tools
  • Working knowledge of ASME, ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IMC, IPC, and IBC codes
  • Proficiency with Autodesk products, Microsoft Office, and mechanical design/analysis tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication for analysis, documentation, and team coordination
  • Experience with project budgeting, planning, and safety compliance
