Overview In this role you lead the US/PR payroll operations to deliver accurate, compliant payroll for 18,000 employees, partnering with HR, IT, and finance to optimize processes. You drive continuous improvement, automation, and data integrity across Workday Payroll and timekeeping integrations. You'll shape strategy, oversee a payroll team, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support scalable operations. This is an onsite role in Cary, NC with a focus on customer experience and strong controls.

Responsibilities- Set strategy and direction for US/PR Payroll Services within ABB policy and law frameworks
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing and ensure timely, accurate transactions across salaries, time entries, taxes, benefits, and deductions
- Monitor and improve payroll controls, efficiencies, and service quality
- Enhance customer experience through accurate information, timely responses, and self-service adoption
- Manage and develop the payroll team, including recruitment, coaching, and resource allocation
- Drive continuous improvement and automation, partnering with HRIS/IS on Workday releases, enhancements, and integrations
Key requirements- Bachelor in relevant field with five years of payroll and timekeeping experience
- At least two years of team leadership experience
- Experience with Workday Payroll operations and post-production support
- Strong understanding of payroll integrations with timekeeping, benefits, tax, banking, garnishments, GL, and third-party providers
- Experience in a front-office environment and with SaaS systems
- Multi-state and multi-company payroll experience
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy
- Prior team management experience
- US work authorization for ABB
- Preferred: CPP certification; Workday and ADP experience; Workday configuration analysis, testing, security roles, and analytics
