Overview As Principal, Electrical Engineering, you lead strategy, client relationships, and technical excellence for Mission Critical Facilities in Chicago. You will shape the electrical engineering practice within the Buildings team, drive business development, and oversee project delivery and staff growth. You collaborate across disciplines to maintain high-quality designs and foster innovation. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on project oversight, offering impact through scalable, sustainable design.

Responsibilities- Lead sector engineering growth and strategic direction in Chicago, aligning with regional and national goals.
- Partner with other Principal leaders to drive office growth and integrated practice.
- Interface with architectural and engineering leadership across North America to strengthen the integrated design approach.
- Develop and execute business and marketing plans for the Chicago practice to advance the Buildings portfolio.
- Sustain top-line revenue, achieve growth targets, and monitor operational performance metrics.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, sub-consultants, and regional partners.
- Assist in annual business planning, budgeting, and KPI achievement.
- Create client-facing materials and present at industry events; contribute to marketing content for Mission Critical sector.
- Lead recruitment, development, and retention of engineering staff; forecast workload and SME requirements.
- Ensure compliance with best practices and Stantec PM Frameworks; maintain quality control and project delivery standards.
- Oversee design delivery processes, resource planning, and cross-disciplinary coordination.
- Provide ongoing technical leadership and continuing education for the team and ensure up-to-date technical standards.
- Maintain knowledge of codes, standards, and market trends; update sector specifications and technical documentation as needed.
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 15+ years related professional experience
- Professional Engineering license
- Project Management Professional certification a plus
- LEED AP Credential preferred
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
- Strong client service and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and scope across projects
