Overview As Principal Product Manager for Virtualization Platforms, you lead strategy and the roadmap for KVM-based virtualization products within a Linux stack. You translate open-source virtualization capabilities into differentiated offerings and collaborate with engineering, sales, and partners to drive market success. You influence product direction across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, balancing performance, security, and scalability. Responsibilities- Define end-to-end strategy and roadmap for one or more KVM-based virtualization products or a portfolio
- Articulate the platform value proposition, including performance, TCO, and differentiation vs competitors
- Gather market and customer requirements for enterprise virtualization use cases (VDI, server consolidation, cloud-native workloads, telco NFV/edge, HPC)
- Translate engineering capabilities into concrete product specs and align with upstream open-source communities
- Lead lifecycle phases from feature planning and kernel integration to launch, sustaining engineering, and end-of-life planning
- Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and marketing on configuration, pricing, and GTM strategies
- Provide technical direction and enablement to sales, partners, and customers; represent the product externally
- Engage with open-source ecosystems and upstream communities as a product stakeholder
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- 10+ years in product management, engineering, or related technical role with virtualization exposure
- Hands-on or architectural familiarity with KVM, QEMU, libvirt; open-source contribution or community engagement a plus
- Strong knowledge of KVM architecture, virtual machine lifecycle, vCPU scheduling, memory management, virtio, and hardware virtualization
- Cross-functional leadership
